HOHENSTEIN

Sire: CAPRIMOND  Dam: HELENA XIV

HOHENSTEIN (Caprimond/Matador) is one of the most sought after sires available today. He is a gorgeous black stallion by the legend Caprimond. Hohenstein started his career in 1994 by becoming overall Reserve Champion, as well as best in dressage, at his Stallion Performance test (HLP) held in Adelheidsdorf Germany. He received an incredible dressage score of 148.29. This was partially due to his at-all-times balanced movement and his sensitivity to the finest aids. At the 2002 Trakehner Stallion Licensing in Neumunster, Germany, Hohenstein received the honour of Trakehner Stallion of the Year. As well as being a breeding stallion, Hohenstein is competing successfully at FEI levels in dressage.

From 1995 to 1997 the Celle State Stud set up a special agreement with Klosterhof Medingen to allow Hanoverian breeders to use this impressive sire. Today he is only available at Klosterhof.

Hohenstein’s first crop of foals immediately caught the interest of the breeders’ of the Trakehner as well as Hanoverian Societies for being not only outstanding types but also well conformed with three excellent basic gaits. His offspring are always noticed and compete very successfully as well. They often bring very high prices such as Vice Champion Habitus (vice Bundeschampion at Warendorf 2000) who sold for $320,000 DM at the Elite Hanoverian auction in Verden. In addition, at the 2002 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing, the president of the American Hanoverian Society purchased the approved black Hohenstein/Donnerhall offspring for 515.000, €.

As well as his career as a breeding stallion, Hohenstein made it to the 1995 finals of the German Bundeschampionat (Warendorf) and ended third best amongst the finest selection of four year old German bred riding horses. He was awarded the title of Trakehner Champion. He won his first S-level dressage competition at only seven years of age and he continues his training at the FEI levels.
